1978.03-1982.01，西南农学院蚕学专业学习毕业，获学士学位;

1982.09-1985.07，西南农业大学蚕学专业学习毕业，获硕士学位;

1991.12-1995.12，西南农业大学特种经济动物饲养(含蚕、蜂)学毕业，获博士农学学位;

1998.04-1998.10，日本九州大学家蚕基因资源开发研究中心访问学者;

1985.07-1987.09，西南农业大学蚕桑系，助教;

1987.10-1993.06，西南农业大学蚕桑丝绸学院，讲师;

1993.06-今，西南农业大学(2005年合并为西南大学)，教授;

1996.12-1998.08，西南农业大学蚕桑丝绸学院任院长;

2005.07-2015.12，西南大学校长助理;

2009.02-2014.02，西南大学动物科技学院任院长;

2011年至今，国家蚕桑产业技术体系首席科学家。

主要科研领域与方向:

从事家蚕资源、遗传学、细胞生物学、功能基因与遗传改良和蚕桑产业发展研究。

科学成就：

主持承担“973”“863”“948”、国家科技基础调查专项、国家蚕桑产业技术体系、国家科技攻关、国家自然科学基金、博士点基金课题及省、市重点科研课题20余项。获国家自然科学二等奖和四等奖各1项、省级一等奖4项等10余项省部级以上科技成果奖；发表学术论文300余篇，其中包括Science、PNAS、JBC、Genetics等著名期刊在内的SCI论文100余篇；主持及主研育成家蚕新品种10个；获发明专利15项；主编、副主编、参编专著10余部。
